MEMBERSHIP

By becoming a Whitby Historical Society Member, you’ll be helping to support the preservation of our local history. Membership allows you opportunities to connect with others who share your interest in our heritage, to contribute to your community, and to participate in many entertaining & educational activities and events. You receive advanced notice of all events, a subscription to our quarterly newsletter, an invitation to our Annual General Meeting, and more. 

You can purchase or renew your membership through our webstore HERE, or in person at the Warren General Store.

Annual Membership – $20.00

• A subscription to our quarterly WHS Newsletter, as well as all additional Special Newsletters.
• Advanced notice and registration for all ticketed upcoming events, including all online events.
• An invitation to our Annual General Meeting, with voting privileges.
• Access to two exclusive annual Warren General Store shopping events, with a 15% discount.

VOLUNTEER

The Whitby Historical Society appreciates the many contributions of our volunteers. Volunteers make use of their unique skills in so many ways: hosting tours, leading workshops, performing heritage skill demonstrations, helping at special events, caring for the Heritage Kitchen Garden, fundraising, maintaining & cleaning the Lynde House, researching, professionally restoring artifacts, serving teas… the list is endless!

Volunteering is a great way for people of all ages to make new friends with similar interests. By contributing to the community, volunteers develop a sense of belonging and purpose. Lynde House is also a fun place for high school students to complete their required volunteering hours. If you would like to learn more about our volunteering opportunities, please drop by to introduce yourself and fill out a Volunteer Application.

DONATIONS

The Whitby Historical Society gratefully accepts personal monetary donations and corporate sponsorship to help with operating expenses and Museum activities. In addition to cash donations, we also gladly accept in-kind donations of:

  • Items with a historical significance to Whitby.
  • Lynde family mementos & photographs.
  • Historic documents, photos, diaries and 19th century newspapers from Whitby.
  • 19th century décor, housewares and quilts in good condition, which may be used in the Lynde House.
  • Antique (pre-1920) clothing and accessories.

If you have a donation which is NOT listed above, please contact us to confirm interest. Tax receipts are available for all donations valued over $25.00.
